Hear Me; Art for Social Space - is a sculptural tree-bench which
surrounds a red maple tree; created by the artist Banna, and it
incorporates self portraits created by the artist Sinem Banna, and
children and adolescents with behavioral/emotional, language/learning
difficulties, and other mental/physical challenges. The bench also
includes written words representing Banna’s and student’s thoughts.
There are forty small bells hung under the bench creating a soft, and a
calming sound as wind blows, like a call to viewers to come and join.
Sinem Banna has been awarded a “Residency Grant” by the Silicon
Valley Community Foundation for the “Hear Me” project.
The outdoor public sculpture is permanently located at the Central Park,
San Mateo.
