7 Sculptures Plexiglas, light, digital images 30"x16"x5" each Seven female torsos, a layered illuminated collage construction, titled “The Voice of Silence”, as in Rumi’s mystic poem. Banna who has adapted and responded to different cultures and existing traditions of society without weakening her spiritual essence, which is her source of inspiration, underlines the concept of “Divine Self” with this sculptural composition. For Banna there is no more perfect symbol of the “Divine Self” than light. The light in self is pure, stainless, and serene; its state is far beyond adapted notions, dogmas or doctrines. The female torsos individualized by the repeated elements of calligraphy, objects and floral patterns represent the conditions of being an entity, the light behind the torsos which symbolizes the pure “self” tries to heal the wounds of our identity in an other word our being.
